Begbroke and Yarnton are thriving settlements, but without decent local bus services residents are isolated.

With the withdrawal of subsidised bus services, urgent action is needed to connect Begbroke and Yarnton to the shops, banks, post office, doctors, chemists and the secondary school in Kidlington and also to Oxford Parkway for onward connections into Oxford and London.

Samuel Hubbard, the prospective Liberal Democrat candidate for Kidlington South in the May County Council elections, is calling on Oxfordshire County Council to work with the Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach to ensure that we have a 21st century public transport system that meets the needs of all its residents and does not abandon those without other options.

The opening of the Oxford Parkway rail station provides a new transport hub that should be able to support bus services to link more communities north of Oxford, including Begbroke and Yarnton.

We the undersigned call on Oxfordshire County Council to ensure that residents in Begbroke and Yarnton are served by a regular bus service to Kidlington and Oxford Parkway.
