The House of Commons voted to give Parliament a meaningful vote on the final Brexit deal last night, by a narrow margin of 309 to 305.
Commenting on last night’s Government defeat in the House of Commons on the EU Withdrawal Bill , Oxford West and Abingdon’s Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran said:
“This humiliating Government defeat is a wake-up call for this Conservative-DUP Government. Hundreds of local residents emailed me asking me to support this amendment to ensure MPs can have a say over a Brexit deal that will affect people’s lives, jobs, the economy and public services like our NHS for generations to come.
“MPs have taken back control over Brexit by forcing the Government to hold a meaningful vote in Parliament at the end of the Brexit negotiations to approve the deal.
“I’ll now be fighting to give the people, as well as Parliament, a say on whether to choose the final Brexit deal or to opt for an exit from Brexit.”
