South East Oxfordshire Liberal Democrats

South East Oxfordshire Liberal Democrats operate in the Henley constituency, which covers most of the local government district of South Oxfordshire (excluding the Wallingford and Didcot areas in the west of the district) and two wards of Cherwell District (Kirtlington and Otmoor). Major towns in the constituency include Henley-on-Thames, Thame, Chinnor and Sonning Common.

Local party members elect an executive committee each year to organise activities and election campaigns within the local area.  If you would like to know more about us or would like to offer to help, please contact Steph Van de Pette our Membership Development Officer.

Laura Coyle, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Henley Constituency

Laura lives has lived in Streatley, just outside Henley constituency, for six years with her husband Ray. She believes strongly in getting involved to help the community in which she lives and she is parish councillor and chair of the management committee of the local pre-school that her son attends.

Laura has a strong record of fighting for those she represents having been a Liberal Democrat councillor in the London Borough of Haringey from 2004 to 2010.

It was as a councillor that Laura first became interested in the plight of the homeless and those who are living in substandard housing. After doing a law conversion course and volunteering for the Citizens Advice Bureau she qualified as a solicitor in 2008. She now works as a housing solicitor in Oxford providing advice and legal representation to tenants and homeless people, primarily through legal aid. Housing is Laura’s abiding passion and she believes that access to good quality housing is fundamental to social justice and human dignity.

Laura is an internationalist and passionately pro-European. She campaigned hard for the Britain Stronger in Europe campaign during the referendum and wants to give the people of Henley the chance to vote for someone who believes that Britain, and the world, will be a better, safer place if Britain remains at the heart of Europe.
