Reports have emerged that Labour Councillor for Lye Valley ward, Ben Lloyd-Shogbesan, has been sharing anti-Semitic and homophobic articles.
He is reported as having equated Israel with Nazi Germany, and making objectionable statements on a wide range of subjects, including same-sex marriage, Libya, democracy, and even cancer.
So far Oxford Labour have not condemned the actions, with the City Council Leader - Councillor Susan Brown - simply referring to Cllr Lloyd-Shogbesan's actions as 'disappointing'.
Oxford Labour have yet to confirm whether they will suspend him from the group or what further actions will be taken.
Leader of the Opposition on Oxford City Council, Cllr Andrew Gant, has condemned the actions of Cllr Lloyd-Shogbesan and called for his resignation.
Commenting, Andrew Gant has said:
"It is sad to see the poison that is infecting the Labour Party nationally appearing here in Oxford, along with the same feeble response from the leadership.
"It is incredible that Cllr Lloyd-Shogbesan was re-selected by the Labour Party, and that he remains a Labour Councillor since these appalling comments came out.
"Even activists from the Labour Against Anti-semitism group have called for the councillor's immediate suspension and eventual explusion.
"The Liberal Democrat Group on Oxford City Council calls on Cllr Susan Brown to suspend him. Cllr Lloyd-Shogbesan should also consider his own position."
