Sue Cooper is standing in the Oxfordshire County Council elections on 4 May 2017 as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the county division of Chalgrove & Watlington.
Sue is an experienced district councillor and believes she can make a real difference if she is elected to the Oxfordshire County Council.
"Chalgrove is under threat from housing proposals that would turn this wonderful village into the largest town in South Oxfordshire and destroy Chalgrove’s way of life. The County Council has quite rightly rubbished this plan on highway grounds alone. It would bring traffic chaos to the whole of the Chalgrove and Watlington area.
I am an experienced Councillor with 20 years of service on the District Council and was the parish clerk in Benson for 5 years, so I know about housing need and how to provide new homes in a sustainable way with community support. In addition, protection of the local environment is very important to me – renewable energy, cycling for all, public transport and growing my own food to name but a few.
I have lived in Ewelme for over 40 years and my six children were born and educated locally. I have been involved with many community groups over the years including Benson Playgroup, helping to set up Ewelme Village Store and working on the Ewelme watercress beds.
I have a track record of achieving real improvements to quality of life in Oxfordshire and believe we should have a responsive and effective Council."
