Oxford is a welcoming city that benefits greatly from tourism, particularly in the summer months. However, with huge numbers of tourists lining the streets, it can often feel overwhelming.
Local Liberal Democrats have been championing the introduction of a ‘Tourist Tax’.
This would be a small levy, such as just £1 on hotel stays, which would raise £millions to fund local services, without acting as a deterrent for anyone visiting the city. It would go a long way towards ensuring that tourism works for all residents of Oxford.
I THE UNDERSIGNED CALL ON OXFORD CITY COUNCIL TO MANAGE TOURISM MORE EFFECTIVELY AND LOBBY THE GOVERNMENT FOR THE POWER TO INTRODUCE A TOURIST TAX.
