Following the 2007 floods, Abingdon was promised a Flood Alleviation Scheme.
Several years later, the scheme was dropped. The Environment Agency said that their funding didn't stretch this far.
Yet Abingdon has faced the threat of flooding repeatedly in recent years.
Layla Moran MP said: “Flooding is about the human cost, not just the economic cost, and the frequent flooding locally reminds us that major problems on the scale of 2007 are more and more likely. The climate emergency must not be forgotten."
We are calling for the Government to urgently fund the Environment Agency to deliver an Abingdon Flood Alleviation Scheme.
