Risky it may be, but at least it is not lacking in ambition. When some of Oxford's roads - as well as those across the county - are in such a poor state, creative solutions are needed.
A recent editorial in the Oxford Times gives prominence to our attempts to improve services for Oxfordshire residents.
The Oxford Times said:
"A Liberal Democrat amendment to the county council's budget was dismissed as 'too risky' by the Conservatives this year because it involved borrowing £10 million to plough into road repairs.
Risky it may be, but at least it is not lacking in ambition. When some of Oxford's roads - as well as those across the county - are in such a poor state, creative solutions are needed.
Labour's answer on this issue was muted. The party had its chance to put forward something radical but instead proposed changes amounting to just £900,000. Of this, only £170,000 extra was proposed for 'helping to identify' where potholes are. It is difficult to tell whether this reflects a resignation to Oxfordshire's funding woes or simply a lack of imagination."
