Dr Elizabeth Poskitt is your West Oxfordshire District Council candidate for Woodstock and Bladon
Elizabeth is a retired academic paediatrician with research interests in malnutrition and obesity. She worked in UK (Birmingham, Liverpool) and Africa (Uganda, The Gambia). Originally from Bolton, Lancashire, she has lived in Woodstock for 23 years.
Elizabeth has been on Woodstock Town Council since 2009 and has represented Woodstock, Blenheim & Bladon on WODC since 2012. A founding member of Sustainable Woodstock, she has been concerned with environmental and climate change issues on both councils and helped plant the Woodstock Community Woodland and Orchard.
She has campaigned for an enforceable 20mph limit both on the A4095 through Bladon and in central Woodstock, and wants to see action to provide more parking facilities in Woodstock.
She continues to campaign for a new doctors’ surgery on the Hensington Road site where co-operation between the landowners (the District and County councils, and Blenheim), imaginative forward thinking and finance could resolve several needs: surgery, parking, and library.
Elizabeth is chair of the Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum and co-author of Woodstock and the Royal Park and Woodstock: Its Buildings and People, the profits of which go to local charities. Her longstanding involvement with the British Federation of Women Graduates focuses on supporting and encouraging women postgraduate students.
