Infrastructure for Woodstock

Woodstock is set to have THREE major housing developments over the next ten years on new estates comprised of 600 houses altogether. This is going to increase the house numbers in Woodstock by over a third!

Just like other schemes in surrounding villages this incredible speed of growth has been signed off without proper consideration for the environment or for the demands on infrastructure that all these new houses will place on our schools, doctors surgeries and roads.

The Conservative County Council is completely failing to provide the necessary funding to support all these new houses. The Duke's Cut slip road has been shelved making the Woodstock Road roundabout impassable in the mornings, despite millions spent trying to improve it. Even the planned dualling of the A40 carriageway from Witney will end at Eynsham, leaving the last few miles a single lane in constant gridlock. To add insult to injury the Conservative Government abolished zero carbon homes in 2016 as soon as the Lib Dems left office. It is time for things to be done differently and local people to have a voice at the table when the decisions are made.

The Liberal Democrats believe that the master planning for Woodstock and the surrounding villages should be done with the highest level of environmental measures possible and that the infrastructure needs to be radically improved to include safe and convenient bus, rail and cycling routes.

Will you sign and show your support for:

  • A central Woodstock surgery that will benefit local communities and Woodstock businesses
  • Traffic controls: 20mph limits and controls on HGVs in town and village centres
  • Better, well connected, public transport: buses, rail, cycle tracks, footpaths
  • Improved parking facilities for those who must use their cars for travel
