Day 6 - Q. What do you think your biggest challenge is going to be?
A. There are many challenges in the role of PCC. One is managing the relationship with the Chief Constable, which is absolutely fundamental to making a public, private and personal success of the role of Police and Crime Commissioner.
Another is understanding the nature of ‘harm v crime’ and making sure the public are on side.
Taking the role forward into a even more strategic focus across the emergency services, if that is the direction of travel imposed by the government.
Finally, fighting for adequate resources that are effectively used to achieve the strategic ends of the police and other emergency services in a rapidly changing world.
