The local Liberal Democrats have now launched a campaign calling for a rethink of Cherwell District Council’s sky high housing targets.
Our towns and villages don’t have the schools, health provision, sewage or transport networks to cope with this level of development.
The gap between settlements is getting smaller and smaller, and our villages risk losing their character.
More realistic housing targets will lead to better quality developments, more suited to the local area, and make it easier to negotiate the right infrastructure. It will also make it less likely that the district will miss its housing targets, making speculative developments less likely.
We, the undersigned, call on Cherwell District Council to to adopt more realistic housing targets and to insist that infrastructure comes before housing.
