There is a Planning Application (P20/S4706/FUL) for a fossil-fuel fired power plant on farm land between the Parishes of Goring-on-Thames and South Stoke.
There has been a great deal of concern raised by the community over this gas burning electricity generation plant in a sensitive location in the Chiltern’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The site is adjacent to the Ridgway National Trail and in the vicinity of a community amenity (Hildred’s Pick Your Own) and the Withymead Nature Reserve and Forest School.
There is massive concern locally about the proposal because it is within a protected area, will generate noise, uses outdated technology and isn't serving any local need.
