Andy Crawford & Patrick O'Leary
Andrew served locally for over 14 years as a District, Town and County Councillor before moving overseas in 2013 for 2 years.
Currently a Town Councillor, Andy has a wealth of experience and a track record of working with the local community.
He is concerned about the future of Wantage, with 1,500 new houses inevitably giving rise to serious challenges, especially around infrastructure and integration.
He feels that the Vale has been poorly managed and resources poorly allocated over the last 8 years, and that it’s time to change.
An Oxford graduate and a finance professional, Andy was for 7 years a Director of Oxfordshire’s largest mental health charity. He is currently a parent Governor of Wantage C of E school and sits on The Friends of the Sweatbox committee. He has also served as a Governor of King Alfred’s School, as a member of the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust and as a Trustee of the Courthill Youth Hostel.
Patrick O’Leary is married to Tara, a physiotherapist with the NHS and has three children, all of whom now go to King Alfreds and are about to take their GCSE’s and A Levels.
He moved to Wantage 20 years ago and being in business locally gave him a real sense of connection to the Town and its vibrant community. From this he became involved with the Chamber of Commerce, and 12 years ago was elected as a Town Councillor and have served 2 terms as Town Mayor.
He has been privileged to be able to support local groups, charities and community events and now that he is retired he has more time to devote to the community and the challenges it faces.
Patrick is looking to use his business head to contribute to solutions to the dire financial situation the Vale District Council is facing as well as continuing to build on all the community links he has developed over many years.
